St. Louis (KSDK) -- Hundreds of St. Louis-area students joined in a national anti-bullying movement called Stand 4 Change.

Around the country about 1.3 million students demonstrated their commitment to put an end to bullying.

At 11 a.m. Friday, they stopped what they were doing and stood together in silence.

The Stand 4 Change event hopes to set the record for the most people standing for a single cause at one time. Some students chose to hold anti-bullying signs as they stood up in class, others met outside on the school track.

Local schools that contacted NewsChannel 5 about the event, include: Crestview Middle School, Rockwood South Middle School, and Nipher Middle School.

Organizers hope that image of people standing up against bullying will become a reality. For more information on Stand 4 Change, visit
