(KSDK)  St. Louis Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong was named Wednesday night as the NHL's G.M of the Year, as the Blues continue to pile up awards at the league's Awards Ceremony.

Armstrong finished up his second season with the Blues, and the club finished with the league's 3rd best record overall, and won the franchise's first division title since 2000.  The team beat the San Jose Sharks in the playoffs, their first playoff series win since 2002.

Armstrong hired Adams Trophy winning coach Ken Hitchcock in November, and the move turned the Blues season around.  Armstrong also acquired defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk, forward Chris Stewart and goalie Jaroslav Halak in trades, and signed free agents like goalie Brian Elliott, defenseman Kris Russell, and forwards Jason Arnott and Jamie Langenbrunner.  Halak and Elliott teamed to win the league's Jennings Award for allowing teh fewest goals this past season.

Armstrong beat out Florida's Dale Tallon and Nashville's David Poile in balloting for the award.
