Bourbon, MO (KSDK)- Missouri Highway Patrol officials say they cannot be certain when an accident occurred because it was not discovered until after the sun came up on Independence Day morning.
Investigators say that's when a pick-up truck was located in a creek bed off Highway N south of Bourbon in Crawford County. Officials report the driver was already dead.
Authorities say evidence indicates 37 year old Terry Daugherty of Bourbon was northbound when his pick-up missed a curve, went off the pavement ansd slammed into a road sign. The vehicle then crossed back over the road where it struck a tree and flipped into the creek.
Troopers and the Crawford County coroner responded and pronounced Daugherty dead just before 6:00 Wednesday morning.
