Washington Avenue shooting investigation

St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - St. Louis Police are investigating an overnight shooting along Washington Avenue in downtown St. Louis.

Police say the 37-year-old victim was shot in the groin while waiting at a bus stop around 1:15 a.m. at 6th St and Washington.

The victim told police he was approached by a man demanding bus money.  The victim refused to give the subject money and tried to run away, but the suspect opened fire.

Police describe the suspect as an African-American man, early 30s, 5'8-5'10", 190-200lbs, medium build, medium complexion, star tattoo on right arm, wearing a red shirt with black writing, blue jeans.

The victim was transported to the hospital where doctors indicated he was stable.
