State Fire Marshal investigating charcoal blaze in Maries County

Belle, MO (KSDK) -  A huge charcoal fire in Maries County is a suspected case of arson according to Sheriff Chris Heitman.

Fire officials and deputies responded to the Royal oaks Charcoal Plant on Route EE around four Wednesday morning and found nearly eighty thousand pounds of charcoal ablaze.

Two structures at the complex were also burning according to Sheriff Heitman who told News Channel 5 firefighters from Belle, Vichy, and Bland were also on the scene to assist in containing and extinguishing the fire.

The Missouri State Fire Marshal has been called to the scene and will set out to determine the origin and definite cause of the blaze later today.

No injuries reported in the incident.
