Ellisville, MO (KSDK) - The Ellisville City Council could vote Thursday on a measure that has some people outraged, and it stems from a proposed Walmart.

The Walmart issue has been a devise issue for months. City hall was packed Wednesday night with people showing up to oppose the store.

Many don't approve using TIF money, others are worried about crime, property values and increased traffic.

It is such an explosive topic, that there is currently a petition from citizens to recall five council members who support the Walmart store.

Here's where it gets interesting, now there's a measure up for consideration to change the guidelines for a recall, so, in effect, some of the same council members who could face recall could be voting to make a recall more difficult.

Liz Schmidt lives in Ellisville. She's part of a group opposing the recall change.

"I'm just appalled at what looks like a desperate attempt on the part of city council to change the rules in the middle of the game only to save their own hides," said Schmidt.

The Walmart issue passed one hurdle at Wednesday night's meeting, but has another vote to go through in the next meeting next month.

The recall issue will be discussed in a special meeting Thursday night.
