First Federal Savings Bank robbed in New Baden

New Baden, Ill (KSDK) - Two masked men armed with a gun robbed a bank in New Baden, Illinois Tuesday.

Police say the First Federal Savings bank in the 1200 block of East Hanover Street was robbed around 9:45 a.m.

Authorities say two masked man entered the bank with a handgun and demanded money.

The first suspect is described as wearing a white or light-colored hoodie with the word AVILA on the front and blue jeans.

The second suspect is described as wearing a dark-colored hoodie and black sweat pants.

The men left the bank through the front door and traveled in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of cash.

No injuries were reported.

Officers from the New Baden, Trenton, Breese, Germantown, Clinton County, and the Illinois State Police Patrol and Air Division responded to the incident and arrived within minutes.

Local schools were temporarily put on lockdown, though no threat to the schools was ever determined.

The FBI is assisting the New Baden Police Department with the investigation.
