St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - St. Louis Police are investigating an accident at the New Life Evangelistic Center that claimed the life of a homeless man Tuesday night.
Authorities were called to the New Life Evangelistic Center at 1411 Locust Street in downtown St. Louis around 7:40 p.m. after the 46-year-old man fell backwards from a fourth floor stairwell inside the facility all the way to the ground floor.
Center officials told police the man arrived at the center intoxicated and was placed in a waiting area on the fourth floor to recover.
It's believe the man left that waiting area and was approaching the staircase when he somehow fell over the railing and to the main level where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police continue to investigate and identify the victim.
