St. Louis (KSDK) - The body of a Missouri soldier arrived at Lambert-St. Louis international Airport Tuesday night.
Army Private First Class Isaac Lawrence Young, 22, of Springfield was shot to death while stationed in Fort Hood, Texas.
Police say Young and another soldier, Specialist Patrick Myers, were drinking and watching football when the Myers pointed a gun at Young's head in order to scare him and stop a case of the hiccups.
Some of Young's fellow soldiers carried his casket to a hearse parked outside the airport. Around 30 members of the veterans' group the Patriot Guard Riders gathered to honor Young and his family.
"It's really to show the family that their loved one is respected and that the service of their loved one, we know it's necessary," said rider Bob Smith. "Our military veterans and our active duty, they just deserve as much respect as we can give them."
The riders escorted Young's funeral procession along the route to Springfield.
