Edwardsville, IL (KSDK) - A Madison County sheriff's deputy chased a Godfrey man into a creek Thursday morning after the man ran after being pulled over.

According to Captain Will Dimitroff, a spokesman for the Madison County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred just after 2:20 a.m. on Cinderella Drive near Storeyland Drive in Cottage Hills.

A deputy pulled over a pickup truck and the driver ran off after stopping, Dimitroff said. The deputy chased the man into a nearby creek and apprehended him.

The driver, identified as 33-year-old Damien Brown, had a revoked Illinois driver's license, Dimitroff said. Brown was charged with resisting a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer, driving with a revoked license, failure to yield and driving without a rear registration plate lamp. He remains incarcerated in Madison County Jail on $350 bond.
