St. Louis (KSDK) - The number of people killed in traffic accidents not wearing seatbelts is on the rise.
That figure is climbing for the first time since 2005, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, so troopers are on a mission to reverse the trend.
The "Click It for Life" campaign is underway, and you may have seen signs along some busy highways.
Now, the patrol has recruited some St. Louis Cardinals players for a series of public service announcements.
Joe Kelly, Jon Jay, Matt Carpenter and Shelby Miller are all part of the campaign.
The number of deaths from not wearing a seatbelt is up about eight percent over this time last year.
