Canon City, CO (KRDO/CNN) - Police say two inmates who escaped a federal prison in Michigan were found operating a meth lab in Colorado.
They found Gregory Allen Bradshaw and Kenneth Lee Grauman in Canon City on Thursday.
Officers say the men had only been staying in the area for a few days, but had already managed to set up a meth lab in their motel room.
The motel was evacuated as soon as the lab was discovered.
Police say the pair of fugitives, who are suspected in numerous home invasions and at least one vehicle theft back home in Michigan, could have created quite a problem.
"Armed federal fugitives operating a meth lab is a very dangerous situation. This was a culmination of some excellent police work from several agencies. At one time we had 20 police officers here, so yes very good work and the safety of the public was paramount at all times," said Chief Paul Schultz.
Police also arrested the fugitives' girlfriends, who were found near the hotel in a stolen car.
All four now face several federal and state charges.
