Alas, Mitt Romney won't be appearing with those "sharp-tongued" women on The View after all.
Barbara Walters said the GOP presidential nominee had "scheduling problems" and won't be able to join his wife, Ann, on the ABC daytime show on Thursday. This was first reported by The Huffington Post.
Romney told donors that appearing on the show was "high risk" because Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd and Joy Behar "are sharp-tongued and not conservative." (The fifth co-host is Elisabeth Hasselbeck, a self-described conservative.)
His comments were captured on that secretly taped video at a fundraising event in which he said 47% of Americans are dependent on the government.
"We were looking forward to it," Walters said on Monday's show. "He can change his mind and we hope he does. It would be our pleasure to have him on the program."
The Romney campaign says Ann Romney is excited to be on The View. Last week, she co-hosted Good Morning America.
