St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - The 21-year-old Bangladeshi man accused of trying to bomb the Federal Reserve Bank in New York City attended Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) in 2012, NewsChannel 5 has learned.

According to court documents, Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis was charged with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and attempting to provide material to support the terror group al-Qaeda.

Nafis came to the United States earlier this year in an attempt to recruit others to help him attack a significant target, investigators said. The possible target list included the New York Federal Reserve, the New York Stock Exchange or a top U.S. official. That official's identity was not released.

SEMO confirmed Nafis was enrolled in SEMO for the Spring 2012 semester. He left the university after that semester and requested his records be transferred to a school out of state.

NewsChannel 5 will have more information on this story as it becomes available.
