JEFFERSON CITY, MO (AP) - Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster is accusing a Florida man of running a sweepstakes scam that targeted an eastern Missouri couple.

Prosecutors say 47-year-old Patrick Percival Wilson of Orlando has been charged with four felony counts of financial exploitation of the elderly, stealing by deceit and unlawful merchandising practices. The attorney general's office announced Friday that charges were filed in Perry County and that Wilson was arrested Thursday in Florida.

Koster's office says Wilson does not yet have an attorney.

Authorities say Wilson sent letters telling the couple they had won $10 million but needed to pay taxes, fees and charges to claim it. Prosecutors say the couple paid about $250,000 with nearly $65,000 going to Wilson.
