Proposition R passes, St. Louis aldermen to be reduced

St. Louis (KSDK) -- St. Louis residents voted to cut the Board of Aldermen in half.

Proposition R needed 60-percent approval to pass.  It received 61-percent.

That means there will be 14 wards in the city, instead of 28. 

It wouldn't take effect until 2022 so city leaders have time to draw boundaries based on the 2020 census.
