Granite City, IL (KSDK) - The Madison County State's Attorney's Office charged three Metro East teenagers in connection with last week's murder of a 54-year-old.
According to Major Jeff Connor, Assistant Chief of the Granite City Police Department, police were notified on the evening of Thursday, November 8 after Charles Weiss was discovered shot in an alley in the 1200 block of Meridian. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Granite City police reached out to the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis for help with the investigation. They took four juveniles into custody on Monday, November 12. One of the kids is under the age of 15 and remains in Juvenile Court awaiting charges.
The other three suspects have each been charged as adults with two counts of first-degree murder without bond. They've been identified as: 15-year-old Markeith Reynolds Jr., 15-year-old Shawn Russell, and 16-year-old Brian Taylor, all of Madison, Illinois. The three suspects remain in custody at the Madison County Juvenile Detention Home.
