Crash near Missouri Valley College leaves Union man seriously hurt

Marshall, MO (KSDK) - A one vehicle crash late Thursday in Saline County, in western Missouri, seriously injured a Franklin County man.

Missouri Highway Patrol troopers had assistance from the Saline County Sheriff's Department, Marshall City Police, and security officers with the Missouri Valley College.

Accident reports show a southbound car, driven by 19 year old Zachary Bumstead of St. Peters ran off South Lincoln Avenue just outside the Marshall city limits.  The car then ran through a ditch and slammed into a utility pole.

Garrett Hill, 20 of Union, was seriously injured and remains hospitalized.  A second passenger in the car, 20 year old Jacob Pederson of San Jose, California was also hospitalized for less severe injuries.

Bumstead was not hurt in the collision.  All three of the young men involved in the accident were students at Missouri Valley College according to the institution's registrar office.

Garrett Hill remains in critical condition this morning.
