Omaha, NE (KPTM/CNN) - Oskar the cat is an award-winning internet sensation. He's also blind, but his owners say he's the purr-fect pet.
Oskar the cat's ears follow what his eyes can't see.
"Everybody wants a perfect animal, it's hard to get more perfect than Oskar," said owner Mick Szydlowski.
A perfect pet, born with a condition called micro thelmia, meaning his eyes never developed.
"Well we thought there were going to be challenges any way. We thought is he going to be able to find his litter box? Is Klaus going to like him," said owner Bethany Szydlowski.
The Szydlowskis' fears were proven unnecessary by the little cat. Oskar found his way around the house in just one week.
"When you feel like you should do the right thing, and the moment comes up, you just have to do it," said Mick.
The Szydlowskis adopted Oskar when he was just 8-weeks-old and captured on film him playing with toys for the first time.
"The love and attention you give the animal, you get it back tenfold," said Mick.
And what the Szydlowskis also got was a Friskie, for the Best New Internet Cat Video of 2012. They also received a year supply of cat food and $15,000.
"Omaha's the place where the little kitten, the little farm cat, became a city slicker and then an international celebrity," said Mick.
For Oskar, it's all about the advantages and adventures ahead.
"Oskar's young. He's a young movie star. He's about like Drew Barrymore in Firestarter. So he's going to make a lot of videos, whether you want them or not," said Mick.
Judging by the popularity of his videos, Oskar could have quite a long career ahead of him. His owners say he may even pen a children's book in the future.
