The theme for First Night 2013 is "A Traveling Circus." It is the largest New Year's Eve celebration in the region with over 20,000 attendees each year, and is alcohol-free.

At 6 p.m. the event will begin with remarks from Mayor Francis Slay.

Also performing this year are The Flying Wallendas and the St. Louis Arches, The Purina Incredible Dog Team, Death by Tickle's extreme juggling, magician Joseph Tran, One More Round, and Metro Theatre Company's drama workshops.

Throughout the evening there will be over 65 performances at 12 venues. Outdoor activities are free, and a First Night button can be purchased in advance to entry to indoor activities.

Buttons can be purchased at the door for $12 for adults and $6 for kids.

Area restaurants will also be open during the event and food trucks will be parked on Olive, just east of Grand.
