WASHINGTON, DC (KSDK) - Represetative Bill Enyart and Representative Ann Wagner were sworn into the 113th Congress by House Speaker John Boehner on Thursday.
The two freshmen members of Congress took the oath of office en masse with their new colleagues.
"It is a privilege and tremendous responsibility to take on the challenges our families face. Southern Illinois is blessed with a talented workforce, abundant natural resources, and a powerful sense of community. I have every confidence that by working together we can create a strong economic future for all of our families and protect the Southern Illinois way of life we share," said Rep. Enyart.
"The people of Missouri's 2nd Congressional District insist that Congress get things done and that is what I intend to do. I am committed to standing up for conservative principles of reining in our out-of-control spending, cutting the debt, reforming our tax code, eliminating onerous regulations and rebuilding confidence in our economy. This Congress has an historic opportunity to lead on these key issues and finally get our fiscal house in order. I am excited to get to work and I am hopeful for the future of this great country," said Rep. Wagner
Wagner will represent the 2nd congressional district in Missouri and Enyart will represent Illinois' 12th congressional district.
