LITCHFIELD, Ill. - Teachers in Litchfield, Illinois have ratified the new two year contract that was tentatively agreed to following a Litchfield Board of Education meeting Monday evening.
The new contract includes a one percent increase in salary for the 2013-2014 school year, and a pre-retirement benefit reduction from 4 years at 6 percent to 4 years and 3 percent in the next school year.
"These were difficult negotiations, but in the end, the Board and LEA were able to find an acceptable compromise," said Superintendent Chad Allison. "We are very excited to be able to continue with the second semester uninterrupted. We truly appreciate the willingness of our teachers to work with us to make some long-term commitments to stabilize the district's fiscal health during these very difficult times."
