St. Louis County, Mo. (KSDK) - The St. Louis Prosecuting Attorney's Office has charged Joseph Rankins, 22, with three counts of first degree burglary, eight counts of second degree burglary, eight felony counts of stealing, and one count of stealing a motor vehicle.
Rankins was caught burglarizing an apartment by its owner in the Norwood Court Apartment Complex. He was detained by the home owner until St. Louis County police officers arrived.
He confessed to detectives that he committed the burglaries to support his heroin addiction.
The charges cover 16 cases that occurred over a period from September 6, 2012 to January 7, 2013.
He is being held on a $170,000 cash only bond.
