MONTGOMERY CITY, Mo. (KSDK) - Two schools placed on lockdown Wednesday morning are now clear.
The high school and middle school in the Montgomery County R-II School District were placed on lockdown after a student made a shooting threat.
Authorities say a teen girl reported missing Tuesday and was suspected to be with her boyfriend. Both the girl and her boyfriend are seniors at Montgomery County High School.
The boyfriend returned the girl to her home on Wednesday morning, and while he was there he made a statement about going to the high school and/or middle school and shoot.
Police were notified, and officials from Montgomery City, Montgomery County, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and a fire marshal responded to the two schools and placed them on lockdown until the suspect was located near his home south of town, off Highway 19, around noon.
The superintendent of the district wasn't sure if a gun was recovered but did say a family member reported a gun was missing from the home.
The suspect is currently being questioned.
On December 18 another school in the district, Montgomery City Elementary School, was placed on lockdown after a student's parent threatened suicide.
