St. Louis (KSDK) - With Stan Musial's passing, the annual dinner hosted by the Baseball Writers Association of America took on a special meaning for the fans in attendance and for the writers who knew Stan.

Cardinal pitcher Adam Wainwright started the evening by remembering Stan Musial in the invocation. And the writers who followed him after his playing days swapped decades of stories about Stan the Man.

Musial would often attend the annual baseball writers dinner and bring with him his humor and harmonica.

"In fact, we would manufacture reasons to get Stan to come to our event because we knew he had his harmonic in his pocket and he always found an excuse to pull that guy out and play on it," remembered Joe Ostermeier with the Belleville News-Democrat.

Sunday, baseball writers across the country, from Seattle to New York, marked Musial's passing with stories of his life and career.
