St. Louis (KSDK) -- St. Louis homicide detectives are investigating the discovery of a body early Saturday, on the ground in a vacant lot in north St. Louis.

Police were called early Saturday morning after a passer-by notified the department of what appeared to be a dead man lying on the ground.

Authorities arrived on scene at the intersection of North 21st and East Linton and immediately began their investigation.

The victim has not been identified, but investigators say the 45 year-old man was shot two times in the head.
