WEBSTER GROVES (KSDK) - The City of Webster Groves has been recognized as Missouri's Creative Community of 2013 by the Missouri Arts Council.
Mayor Gerry Welch will be presented with the award at the Capitol Rotunda in Jefferson City Wednesday, February 6.
An independent panel of Missourians make nominations of distinguished representatives of the arts community throughout the state.
Webster Groves' nomination showed a colorful report, including a description of annual events such as Art & Air, Paint Webster, the Old Webster Jazz and Blue Festival, and the Gazebo Park concert and film series.
Other individuals and organizations receiving an award include St. Louis Artworks for Art Education, the Mount Vernon Regional Arts Council as Arts Organization, Vesta Johnson of Kirkwood for Individual Artist, Pat Jordan of Kansas City for Leadership in the Arts, the Arts and Education Council of St. Louis for Philanthropy, and Henry Bloch of Kansas City for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts.
