ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) - Missouri Department of Transportation officials have announced that starting February 11, traffic in both directions on Interstate 64 will be stopped for daily rock blasting near the Daniel Boone Bridge.
A spokesperson for MoDOT says the closures will take place once a day, weekdays, either at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. for rock blasting adjacent to the eastbound lanes of I-64 at the St Charles County end of the bridge.
Local law enforcement and construction vehicles will slow the traffic. Eastbound traffic will slow at the Route 94 interchange and westbound traffic will slow at the Boone's Crossing interchange.
During blasting, the Missouri Research Park and Chesterfield Airport Road entrance ramps will close.
KATY Trail users will also be stopped on the trail adjacent to the bridge during blasting.
The new eastbound I-64 Daniel Boone Bridge will open to traffic in 2014.
