St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - A vacant apartment building in the Hamilton Heights neighborhood of north St. Louis was destroyed early Tuesday in a fire.

The call came into St. Louis firefighters around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday at the building in the 5800 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive.

Once on the scene, fire officials began a defensive stance in fighting the roaring blaze.  The building, a two story brick structure, housing six units, was engulfed in fire.

During the efforts to put the fire out a portion of the building collapsed, and firefighters from nearby University City were called to assist city firefighters.

No injuries reported in the blaze and a specific cause has not been cited at this point in the investigation.
