ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) - Missouri Department of Transportation crews have delayed daily closures of Interstate 64 to blast rock for one week.

Work will now begin February 18 because wet conditions have slowed the work to prepare for the blasting, which was originally scheduled to begin February 11.

Starting February 18 the interstate will close once per day near the I-64 Daniel Boone Missouri River Bridge to blast rock adjacent to the eastbound lanes of I-64 on the St. Charles County end of the bridge. Traffic will be stopped for up to 10 minutes at either 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. on weekdays for about one month.

Police officers and construction vehicles will slow traffic to allow for the closure. Eastbound traffic will slow starting at the Route 94 interchange, and westbound traffic will slow at the Boone's Crossing interchange.

Missouri Research Park and Chesterfield Airport Road entrance ramps will also be closed during the blasting.

KATY Trail users will be stopped on the trail during the blasting.
