ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - St. Louisans have a chance to take part in a historic cancer research effort.

Our area's top employers are partnering with the American Cancer Society on a national cancer prevention study.

UMB bank, Edward Jones, Centene, Maritz, KPMG, Monsanto, and Siteman Cancer Center are teaming up, hoping many of their employees will take part. They're also encouraging St. Louis area residents to participate.

Researchers in Atlanta will follow the health of 300,000 volunteer participants nationwide for two decades.

The study will help understand the genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that cause or prevent cancer.

You must be between 30 and 65-years-old and have never been diagnosed with cancer.

"It's hard to talk to anybody out in the community, either in their family, in their friends, or in the workplace who haven't been impacted by or have known people who have succumb to cancer," said Tom Chulick, UMB Bank St. Louis Chairman and CEO.

To enroll, visit cancerstudymo.org or call 888-604-5888.
