ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Airline cancellations and slick roads are an inconvenience for travelers, but not hotels. The general manager of the Omni said his hotel was sold out because of snow business, and reservations were up at the Ballpark Hilton.

Jessica Blatek is on a cross country drive but icy roads caused her to spend the night at the Ballpark Hilton.

"It's my first time in town," said Blatek, "and I was planning on leaving this morning and I checked into the Hilton in order to avoid the snow."

It was a similar story for Minnesota business traveler Chad Magnan, one of more than 1,700 Lambert St. Louis International passengers whose flights were cancelled.

"I heard about the storm coming in and I got snowed in," said Magnan. "My flight got cancelled so I had to book a flight for tomorrow from St. Louis."

At MX Movies in downtown St. Louis, weather was horrible for business. At the afternoon showing of Identity Thief, not one customer for that movie or any other movie. The winter storm and a couple of power surges caused the theater to close by mid-afternoon Thursday.

"It creates a lot of unknowns," said MX Movies chef Josh Galliano. "What would happen if we would possibly have to send our guests into the snow because of a power outage? That's a chance we didn't really want to take."
