MADISON COUNTY, Ill. (KSDK) - A 24-year-old Godfrey, Illinois man has been charged following the burglary of 28 storage units.
Capt. T. Mike Dixon with the Madison County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called to the 7000 block of Godfrey Road shortly after 11 a.m. on February 17.
According to Capt. Dixon, a chain link fence surrounding 28 storage units had been cut, and victims reported the theft of electronics, video game equipment, televisions and other property.
On March 6 deputies received information linking Adam G. Roberts to the thefts, and investigators determined he was in the process of moving out of his home on Seminary Road.
Investigators obtained a search warrant March 7 and recovered some of the property stolen from the storage units.
Roberts was taken into custody at a home in the 3000 block of Edsall Street in Alton. He is charged with three felony charges of burglary.
Around $1,000 worth of stolen property was recovered from Roberts' home and identified.
A black compact refrigerator, televisions, fishing equipment, professional wrestling DVDs, paintings, an antique chest of draws, oval mirror, and sewing machine have not been recovered. Investigators believe Roberts or an accomplice sold property to members of the Godfrey community.
Anyone who may have purchased items from Roberts after February 17 should contact the Madison County Sheriff's Office through the dispatch center at 618-692-4433, the investigative division at 618-692-0871, or the anonymous tip line at 618-296-3000.
Roberts is being held on a $60,000 bond.
