GODFREY, Ill. (KSDK) -- Authorities are now releasing the names of the two people who were killed in a crash on Friday afternoon.
Cpt. T. Mike Dixon with the Madison County Sheriff's Office says the accident happened at 1:41 p.m. Friday on Martin Luther King Boulevard just south of Godfrey Road.
James Gregory, 50, a resident of Alton was pronounced dead at the scene by Madison County Coroner's Office Investigator. Gregory was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado Truck southbound on US 67. Gregory was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Gregory's vehicle was struck head on by the second victim.
Margaret Tracy, 81, of Godfrey, Illinois, was also pronounced dead at the scene. Tracy was the driver of a 2002 Toyota Avalon. Tracy was traveling northbound on US 67. A witness reported that for unknown reasons, Tracy's vehicle veered over into the southbound lanes of US 67. Tracy was wearing her seat-belt at the time of the accident.
