St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - Billiken fans are pumped. Many were watching the selection process at Humphrey's near the St. Louis University campus Sunday afternoon. When SLU was announced, the crowd went crazy.
The bar was lined in Humphrey's with St. Louis University fans already enjoying the the St. Patrick's Day celebrations, but at 5:00 pm it was all about the Billikens.
"It just feels really great, all of this hard work is really paying off getting the four seed," says fan Scott Powers.
These fans say with the season SLU's been having, they deserve to be seeded high.
"It's been awhile, its been awhile for SLU I mean I haven't remember them being this good since Larry Hughes," says Jim Hok.
Powers says it's good to be a fan right now.
"It just seems like the enthusiasm, the energy everybody just being able to rally behind the team it feels really great," says Powers.
Now, first thing is first, beating number 13 seed New Mexico State and these fans say - bring it on.
"It doesn't matter who we are playing, we are going to go far, we are a good team," says Hok.
Billiken fans are oozing with pride and hope for the next few weeks of March Madness. Emily Donegan is crossing her fingers that the classic "st. Louis sports juju" kicks in at just the right moment.
"Don't ever count us out of anything, okay? We saw what happened with the Cardinals it definitely could be the same type of thing," says Donegan.
