Steak 'n Shake murders: Oundre Akins gets consecutive life sentences

ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) - One of two brothers convicted of killing two people at a south county Steak 'n Shake restaurant in November 2008 has been sentenced to consecutive life sentences.

Oundre Akins, 23, was convicted March 4 on two counts of first-degree murder, three counts of armed criminal action and one count of robbery for the murders.

Akins and his brother, Anthony Akins, were accused of killing 44-year-old Tammy Cantrell and 24-year-old Mark Gerstner.

Cantrell and Gerstner were shot to death in the Steak 'n Shake restaurant on Lindbergh.

Anthony Akins, 24, will go to trial in July.

Both men are originally from Cahokia, Illinois.
