ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - One of the biggest issues in the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County is Proposition P.

It's a sales tax hike that has to be approved in both the city and county in order to pass. It would raise the tax on a $10 purchase by roughly $0.02, and the money would pay for improvements to the Gateway Arch grounds, city and county parks, and add hiking trails.

It had to pass in both the city and county in order for it to be approved.

The city passed the proposition with 67 percent of the vote and 99 percent of precincts reporting.

In the county it was a closer race, passing with with 53 percent of the vote and 96 percent of precints reporting.

The proposition could raise about $38 million a year for 20 years.
