ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The next generation of leaders will convene in St. Louis this weekend.

The Clinton Global Initiative University, focusing on global change, picks a university every year to inspire young people.

This year the location is Washington University and Stephen Colbert will be the host.

One thousand college students from 75 countries get a ticket, and 200 of those attending are from Washington University. Each attendee had to submit a detailed social action plan and have it accepted by the CGIU committee.

Four female graduate students focusing on social work and public health pitched a plan to help documented immigrants. Starting in October, the students will help immigrants navigate benefits provided under President Obama's Affordable Health Care Act.

"Low income families, individuals, small businesses, can access the health care exchanges and purchase health plans that are subsidized by the government," said Kate Clitheroe.

During the conference students will attend workshops explaining how to get their projects off the ground.

The guest speakers include President Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and host Stephen Colbert.
