ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - St. Louis police Chief Sam Dotson tweeted late Thursday that officers captured two people suspected of shooting a man responding to a Craigslist ad.

Police said detectives will take the case to prosecutors Friday to apply for warrants.

A woman told NewsChannel 5 she believes she was lured by the same people who police say ambushed and shot a St. Louis man Wednesday when he answered a Craigslist ad about a car.

The victim went to the city's north side to look at the car and police say two men approached his vehicle as he pulled up to the meeting place. One of the men began firing shots.

A woman NewsChannel 5 will just call Darla from Dexter, Mo. says she answered a similar ad a couple of weeks ago and came up with some friends to look at a Dodge Durango, just blocks from Wednesday night's ambush.

"So we drove into a back alley and it was dark outside. It was late at night about 8 'o clock at night. And my friend called her uncle that lives in St. Louis and he told us to get the heck out of that area because it was dangerous and we definitely didn't need to be in an alley," said Darla.

She says she feels lucky because she believes they intended to rob her.

When she checked Craigslist again, the same person was trying to sell three other cars. She received two calls from St. Louis police on Thursday.

Meantime, Wednesday's victim was shot several times and is in the hospital tonight in serious but stable condition.
