A 20-year-old student charged in a stabbing spree at a Houston-area community college that left 14 people injured was undergoing a psychiatric evaluation on Wednesday.
Dylan Andrew Quick is charged with three counts of aggravated assault for Tuesday's random stabbings on the Lone Star College Cy-Fair campus in Cypress, Texas, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
A courtroom appearance set for Wednesday was postponed until Thursday. The psychiatric evaluation began Wednesday, the Harris County District Attorney's office told CNN.
Prosecutors presented their case at a probable cause court overnight.
"The defendant gave a videotaped confession, admitting he stabbed complainants multiple times with an X-Acto knife because of his fantasy to kill people," a prosecutor told the court, KHOU-TV reported.
Officials said 12 victims were rushed to area hospitals while two people declined treatment. The most seriously wounded had stab wounds to the neck and face. Six people were hospitalized at Memorial Hermann Texas Trauma Institute, two in critical condition.
A hospital spokesperson said Wednesday that one of the six had been discharged and the five remaining were now all listed good condition. The other hospitalized victims had minor injuries and were treated at North Cypress Medical Center.
The prosecutor at the probable cause court noted that a "bloody knife tip" had been removed from the chest of one of the victims.
Quick, who was tackled and subdued by fellow students during the ordeal, told investigators that he had fantasized since elementary school of stabbing someone to death. He also said he had planned Tuesday's attacks for some time.
Classes resumed at the community college on Wednesday.
In January, two people were shot at Lone Star College's North Harris campus. The CyFair campus is located in Cypress, Texas, about 25 miles northwest of downtown Houston.
The Lone Star College System's six campuses serve about 90,000 students, 18,000 of them at the CyFair campus.
