St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - St. Louis Police arrested four men in north St. Louis overnight after a robbery attempt didn't work out like the suspects thought.

Around 12:30 a.m. Friday a man was sitting in a car with several friends at Page and Hamilton when a group of three men walked up and ordered the man out of his car.

One of the suspects was holding a shotgun and struck the victim in the face and head with the weapon.  The victim and his friends then ran from the car, with the victim who was attacked running to the Metro Bus Station at Delmar and Des Peres where he got help from a bus driver.

The friends ran and took cover while the suspects fled in another vehicle.

Police spotted the suspects and arrested a total of four people at Page and Whittier.  It was not immediately clear whether anything was taken in the incident.  No names have been released.

The man who was struck was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
