PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KOLD/CNN) - Health officials in Pima County, Ariz. warn dental patients may have been exposed to infections.
The Pima County Health Department says 174 people seen at the T-Dental Clinic in the town of Marana may have come in contact with blood borne diseases like hepatitis and HIV.
Officials say the warning is a precautionary move.
"Let me reassure you that even in the rare event where there may have been some exposure to the equipment in question, the risk of actual infection also remains very, very low. However, it is not zero and that is part of the reason why we are reaching out to you," said Dr. Francisco Garcia, Pima County Health Department director.
The patients were seen between January and July of 2010.
Health officials are working to contact all who may have been exposed.
