EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) - An Illinois woman is facing federal charges she improperly collected unemployment benefits for two years while working for the American Red Cross in St. Louis.
A federal grand jury in East St. Louis indicted 44-year-old Faith Moran of Centreville on two counts of mail fraud and one count of embezzlement of public funds.
According to the indictment, Moran was working for the Red Cross in March 2010 when she first filed for unemployment benefits from the Missouri Division of Employment Security. She allegedly continued collecting those benefits through August of last year. Prosecutors say she defrauded the state of more than $34,000.
Online court records don't show whether Moran has an attorney. She doesn't have a listed home telephone number.
