Man struck on I-70 after disabled car causes multi-vehicle crash

O'Fallon, MO (KSDK) - A stalled car on eastbound Interstate 70 at Route K in St. Charles County Tuesday night resulted in several accidents and a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the confusion.

Around 9:25 p.m. last night, a tractor trailer unit was eastbound and tried avoiding the disabled car unsuccessfully, forcing the disabled car into the pedestrian.

23 year old Darius Walls of O'Fallon suffered minor injuries according to Missouri Highway Patrol reports, and was transported to an area hospital.

After the initial collision, a third vehicle tried to avoid the stalled car and collided with the truck.

No injuries were reported to any of the drivers involved in the crash.

Just minutes later, another crash occurred on eastbound I-70 just to the west of Route-K when another vehicle tried to avoid the disabled car and slammed into the concrete barrier along the highway.

The driver of that car, 49 year old Mark Tringl of St. Louis ended up with moderate injuries and was also take to the hospital.
