ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KSDK) - The mother of a five-year-old who walked into a south city supermarket late Thursday night with only his dog, will not be charged, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said.
According to Schron Jackson, a police spokeswoman, the boy and his dog walked into the Schnucks market on Loughborough at Interstate 55 just after 11 p.m. The rain soaked-child told officers his name was Noah and his dog's name was King and they were both hungry.
Police did not locate the child's mother until eight hours later.
The boy lived just a few blocks away from the grocery store.
St. Louis police, the Division of Family Service and Juvenile Family Court decided not to take any criminal action against the boy's mom, but Jackson said there will be strict oversight to ensure something like this does not happen again.
