GLEN CARBON, Ill. (KSDK) - Markus Pfile, said he was tired of seeing his family too consumed with smartphones and other tech devices.
"I kind of thought maybe we should just sit things down a little bit," the father of two said.
About six months ago, Pfile and his wife broke the news to their 13 and 11-year-old daughters that the family would go tech free on Tuesday nights.
"They were like, 'What? You mean we can't text our friends?' They weren't happy about it," Markus said.
Instead of video games, TV and smartphones, the Pfile's can be seen on Tuesdays playing cards, strumming on the guitar, or doing an activity outside.
At first, it was difficult for the Pfile's oldest daughter, Sarah. But now, she looks forward to Tuesdays. She has seen her family become a stronger unit.
"Before this, I didn't even know my sister's favorite color. Now, I know what she likes, the food she likes and her favorite color."
