JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KSDK) - Missouri State Auditor Tom Schweich has released the results of an audit of the City of Brentwood.
Overall, the city received a poor rating in the categories audited, that's the lowest rating possible. This rating means there were "numerous findings that require management's immediate attention, and/or the entity has indicated most recommendations will not be implemented."
The audit was done at the request of residents after the former city administrator, Christopher Seemayer, pleaded guilty to embezzling nearly $30,000 from the city.
Auditors looked at 12 areas including expenditures, fire department overtime, payroll and leave records, budgets and property records.
