ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A six-year-old girl's artwork depicting endangered American Burying Beetles has earned her a trip to Washington, D.C.

Ava Bribriesco is the winner of the National 2013 Endangered Species Day Youth Art Contest. She drew a picture of the beetles, which the Saint Louis Zoo plans to reintroduce in June.

Bribriesco will also be honored at a Washington, D.C. congressional reception on May 22 and her name will be engraged in a special trophy.

Bribriesco and 11 of her fellow kindergartens from International Schoolhouse got to visit the Saint Louis Zoo and meet the director of the zoo's WildCare Institute Center for American Burying Beetle Conservation.

The zoo plans to reintroduce 300 to 350 pairs of the beetles in southwest Missouri in early June.
