ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A natural gas line rupture at the Saint Louis Zoo forced the temporary evacuation of a nearby walking trail Friday morning.

Construction crews nicked the gas line at the intersection of Tamm and Wells drives.

Some zoo visitors were evacuated for a short time and kept off the Rivers Edge Trail while firefighters responded to check the situation.

A small amount of natural gas was still leaking as of noon, but firefighters and utility crews are staying at the scene as a precaution.

NewsChannel 5 will have more information on this story as it becomes available.
