Tractor trailer crash in south St. Louis kills two.
ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Police have released the names of two drivers killed in a crash involving an SUV and a tractor trailer.
They are Lawrence Coleman, 59, of Arnold and Matthew Barton, 29, of Cedar Hill.
The men collided around 3:00 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of S. Broadway and River City Casino Boulevard. The tractor trailer continued south after the crash, went through two power poles, hit a fence, and a small boat.
The tractor trailer was carrying beer. The accident left the road covered in debris from the truck and electric poles down.
"I heard the boom boom, came down and seen the accident, went back home and grabbed my uncle. We came down here, watched everything," says Jason Heidebur.
"It was a high impact boom enough to where it actually woke me up out of my bed and then shortly thereafter the power had gone off," shares Eric Bayers.
It's under investigation, but the people we spoke with at the scene say speed had to have been involved. Police are also looking into reports that one of the drivers ran a red light.
